π¨ INCIDENT REPORT: OPERATION BABYSITTER FAILURE π¨
While command (Mom and Dad) were away conducting important off-site operations, the responsibility for base security was entrusted to the 20-year-old Gamer Boy.
On paper, this seemed reasonable.
After all, he is an adult.
Unfortunately, Gamer Boy made one critical tactical error:
He assumed we were asleep.
He assumed we were content.
He assumed we had accepted captivity.
He was wrong.
ποΈ Dean's POV
The old ones departed at approximately 0900 hours.
I watched from my observation post.
The vehicle disappeared down the road.
I looked at Wini.
I looked at Roscoe.
We all knew what this meant.
The chain of command had changed.
The Gamer Boy immediately returned to his natural habitatβa dark room illuminated only by the glow of multiple monitors.
His headset went on.
His attention went away.
The operation could begin.
ποΈ Wini's POV
I wasn't convinced.
The last mission ended with Puppy Police involvement.
The paperwork alone was embarrassing.
Still...
I had questions.
Where did Mom go?
Where did Dad go?
Were they lost?
Had they been captured?
Someone needed to investigate.
ποΈ Roscoe's POV
I suggested we remain on the couch.
Nobody listened.
As usual.
ποΈ Dean's POV
Phase One was reconnaissance.
Fence inspection.
Gate inspection.
Perimeter walk.
I discovered a weakness.
The Gamer Boy was busy yelling things like:
"HE'S ONE SHOT!"
This confirmed he was distracted.
I proceeded.
The breach was successful.
Within moments, the team was outside the wire.
Freedom.
Fresh air.
Adventure.
Possibilities.
At first we considered finding Mom and Dad.
After all, they clearly required our assistance.
Then another possibility appeared.
A scent.
A familiar scent.
A scent spoken of only in legends.
The Neighborhood Fox.
The trail was strong.
Very strong.
Strong enough that all thoughts of finding Mom and Dad were immediately postponed.
We moved with purpose.
We moved with determination.
We moved directly away from home.
Meanwhile...
Back at base...
The Gamer Boy reportedly completed several matches before noticing the unusual silence.
He removed his headset.
Looked around.
Counted once.
Counted twice.
Then reportedly uttered the ancient phrase spoken by every pet owner throughout history:
"Oh no."
Search operations began shortly thereafter.
